Properties: Excellent hardness, High strength, Superior chemical inertness
Application: Grinding cast iron, Non-ferrous metal, Rock, Leather, Rubber, etc.
The hardness of abrasive grade silicon carbide is between fused alumina and synthetic diamond, and its mechanical intensity is higher than fused alumina. It is also friable, sharp, and has thermal and electrical conductivity to some extent. They are appropriate for working on cast-iron, non-ferrous metal, rock, leather, rubber, etc.
We can supply different grades of Black Silicon Carbide in the quantity of 3,000 tons per month.

Performance and Features
Silicon carbide powder is black, brittle and sharp, has good thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity. The microcosmic shape is hexagonal crystal, and the Mohs hardness of silicon carbide is 9.2. It is higher than corundum in abrasives and only next to diamond, cubic boron nitride and boron carbide. The density is generallty considered to be 3.20g/mm3, and the natural bulk density of silicon carbide abrasives is between 1.2 and 1.6g/mm3, with a specific gravity of 3.20~3.25. Black silicon carbide is made of petroleum coke and high quality silica as main raw materials, adding salt as additive, and smelting by resistance furnace at high temperature. Compared with green SiC, black SiC has lower purity, hardness and brittleness.
